This Privacy Policy explains what information the ChordMuse Flow app and its AUv3 plugin ("App") collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies on iPhone, iPad and Mac. By using ChordMuse Flow, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. ## The Short Version - You can use the App **without an account**: the offline generator, sounds, effects, MIDI export and the plugin collect nothing about you. - The **AI features need a free ChordMuse account**. Then we keep your account details, your chats and what you choose to save, so they're there on all your devices and in ChordMuse on the web. - Your chat messages are **sent to a third-party AI service** through our server to write the replies, if you allow it. - If you subscribe, we keep a **record of your App Store subscription** so your plan works everywhere you sign in. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card. - No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. ## Information Stored Locally Without an account, everything stays **on your device**: - **Projects**: your songs, progressions and arrangements - **Sound and Effects Settings**: the instruments, effects and presets you choose - **App Preferences**: such as the appearance and the last project you opened When ChordMuse Flow runs as a plugin, its state is saved by the music app hosting it, inside that app's project. ## Information We Collect With a ChordMuse Account A ChordMuse account is optional. It's the same account as ChordMuse on the web. When you create one or sign in, we collect: | Information | Why | | --- | --- | | **Email address** and, if you share it, your **name** | To create and identify your account. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; Apple then gives us a private relay address | | **Account ID** | A random identifier for your account, used to keep your data and your plan together | | **AI chats**: the messages you send, the AI's replies, and the current song's chords, key and style sent with them for context | To write the replies, and to keep your chat history | | **Saved progressions** | So they're available on your devices and in ChordMuse on the web | | **Projects** | Synced to your account while you're signed in, so they're on all your devices | | **Daily usage counts**: how many AI messages and AI full songs you used today | To apply your plan's daily limits. They are deleted after two days | Your account, chats, saved progressions and projects are stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore). ## Subscriptions and Purchases Plus and Pro are auto-renewable subscriptions bought through the **Apple App Store**. Apple processes the payment and holds your payment details; **we never receive your card or bank details**. When you subscribe, renew, upgrade, cancel or receive a refund, we keep a record of the subscription, received from the App and from Apple's App Store Server Notifications: - The product (Plus or Pro, monthly or yearly) - Apple's transaction identifiers, and the purchase, renewal and expiry dates - Whether it was refunded or revoked - A purchase token that the App derives from your account ID, so Apple's record can be matched to your ChordMuse account We use this only to give your account its plan on every device and in the plugin, and to apply the plan's limits. It is linked to your account. ## How Your Information Is Used - To provide the AI chat and the features of your plan - To sync your chats, saved progressions and projects across your devices and ChordMuse on the web - To apply daily limits and keep the service available to everyone - To answer you when you contact us We do **not** sell your information, use it for advertising, or build a profile of you. ## AI Processing When you send a message to the AI, our server sends it, with the current song's chords, key and style for context, to a **third-party AI service**, which writes the reply. The service processes the request to produce the reply; we don't send your email address or name with it. Please don't put personal or sensitive information in your messages. You choose whether to use the AI. **Use ChordMuse AI** is on when you create your account or sign in, and you can turn it off there or at any time in the App's Account panel. While it's off, nothing is sent to the AI, and everything else in the App keeps working. ## Third-Party Services The App works with these services, and only for the purposes above: - **Apple**: the App Store (purchases and subscriptions) and Sign in with Apple - **Google**: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Google Sign-In (optional) - **A third-party AI service**: writes the AI's replies, if you allow it - **Our own servers**: relay AI messages, apply daily limits and keep subscription records, hosted with cloud providers Like any online service, these may process your IP address to deliver a request. We don't use it to identify or track you. The App does **not** include: - Analytics or crash-reporting services - Advertising networks or advertising identifiers - Tracking across other apps or websites ## Data Storage and Security Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with providers that protect it with industry-standard security. Your account data may be stored and processed outside Australia, including in the United States. ## Data Retention - Your account, chats, saved progressions and projects are kept until you delete them or delete your account. - Daily usage counts are deleted after two days. - Subscription records are kept while your account exists, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep records of transactions. ## Your Rights and Choices - **Use it without an account**: the offline features never need one. - **Delete what you saved**: remove chats, progressions and projects in the App. - **Delete your account**: in the App, open Account and choose **Delete account**. Your Flow projects are deleted. If you don't also use ChordMuse on the web, your chats, saved progressions and sign-in are deleted too; if you do, they stay there for you. If you can't use the App, email support@chordmuse.app from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. - **Cancel a subscription**: subscriptions are managed by Apple, in your Apple Account settings. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. - **Access or correct your information**: contact us at the address below. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first; you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. ## Children's Privacy ChordMuse Flow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The offline features need no account. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it. ## Permissions ChordMuse Flow may request the following permission: | Permission | Purpose | | --- | --- | | Bluetooth | So Bluetooth MIDI keyboards paired with your device can play the App. Declining doesn't affect any feature | The App does not use your microphone, camera, location, contacts or photos. ## Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
